Sunflower

I found the sun
blooming on a stem,
its petal rays light to my spirit.

I mourned its sunset drying
until I ate its seed
and  tasted sunshine on my tongue.

I love the idea you captured in the first stanza - the sun on its own stem. Cleverly concluded too.

I like the simplicity of this a lot Susie. It needs no elaboration or framing, it speaks eloquently for itself, much like the sunflower you bring to life in the poem.

Is sunshine hot, hot or spicy hot? Either way, I am digging the feeling of this on a Monday Morning. Delightful and warrm.
