Faithful Watch

The tree’s twisted eyelid
is my portal to the sea.
Mornings I rise to view
blue water sparkling
through leaf lashes.

There are days
I see a blue eye wink
of waves splashing,
others a cataract
 fog of gray.

But with each sunrise
I smile and find peace
knowing my rooted sentinel
has kept a faithful watch
over me, the sand and the sea.

Your words and the picture complement each other beautifully. I love the beautiful images you write. I believe I would see the scene without the picture.

Love that, it combines two of my favourite things in nature, the ocean and funky trees!

I love your images, too, Susie. "leaf lashes, cataract fog" just wonderful! You picked my favorite photo, and described it perfectly.
