The Drink of Wine Lips

His lips tasted like wine
so she drank from them,
forgetting tomorrow
was ticking its way
through the stars.

Lust wrapped around her
taking her breath,
 the no from her voice,
the hesitation from her conscience.

Warm body upon warm body
melted into one purpose,
to take from one another
the fulfillment
their desire demanded.

There were no thoughts
of sunrise,
a wedding arranged
like a company merger,
guests smiling ice smiles,
or the silver dollar shine
in her father’s eyes.

This moment with a stranger
who tasted like wine
was all that mattered,
her body forgetting
tomorrow was ticking
its way through the stars.

Such temptation. You captured it here. :)

You have created a very potent scenario. I think the final stanza rounded it off very well indeed.

That next to last stanza about the wedding is brilliant. Wish I had a nickel for every one of my friends who likes Johnny Depp! (I like his ACTING. But you know what I mean!)

I'm sorry to be so late in commenting. I would have sworn I had been to see this one, but I hadn't. Forgive a scatterbrained fellow Toad?
