The leaves wait
in their dying season
for the wind to sing
its hymn of grief.
It is the herald
to begin their
descent to lay
upon fallen loved ones.
Nature and humanity
gather for a memorial
to speak of the glory of life
and the union in eternal rest.
Marble stones and earth
both implore, “Please remember me.”

an all too real pleading...i think we all want to be remembered...love that first stanza and what you did with the leaves...
I think we long to be remembered in some way, shape or form.
I have read this numerous times and still enjoy it each time. The wind singing its grief, that is a very powerful line and it reached out and grabbed me by the throat.
Very nicely done and great comparison!! Ends with a very gentle entreaty!! Beautiful!!
What a lovely take on the prompt! I wish that I had written this.
To me, this encapsulates the whole feel of this time of the month. I love to invite you to link this to my Monday Morning Writing Prompt...it's a perfect example of the prompt. Victoria http://liv2write2day.wordpress.com/
Autumn winds sing many a hymn of grief, I grant you...
"Please remember me.: That pretty much sums it up. My Magpie this week is A Plot Both Great and Grand.
"implore" is a verb to cherish.
Lovely sentiments...
I think it's terribly sad when no one does, and the stones fall into disrepair.

I really like the "dying season", "hymn of grief" and "to lay upon fallen loved ones".
