Last Moments Before Goodbye

These are the
last moments
before goodbye.

My hand clutches
the air, trying
to pull time backwards.

I spent too much time
ignoring tomorrow
would come.

Let me look into your eyes,
remember how love
looked beyond my failures.

My lips seek yours
to taste the delicacy
of restrained passion.

Put your arms around me,
enfold me with your strength,
leave your perfume on my skin.

I feel your heart next to mine,
taking each beat into my soul
to give me life when you are gone.

I hear the clock ticking it is time.
The sun has grown dimmer.
Lonely has already arrived.

Tears pour down my face.
Tomorrow has crossed the threshold.
This is the last moment before goodbye.

I read poignant lines Suzie and I could feel them too!

I hate goodbyes...and I mean it! :(

But a goodbye is needed in order for friends to see each other again...

The lead-up to departure is almost more painful than the actual going.

Dear Susie

Its so beautiful... and I could relate to it all... specially with you lines...

'My lips seek yours
to taste the delicacy
of restrained passion.'

Some times we do not realise how close we are to the bliss, but we keep trying to loose ourselves in openings.... meeting again and again but not taking it forward to the end that is ... the bliss... being forever together in thoughts, mind and sense...

The sense of restraint is always felt when the lips tremble...

You will find one haiku at my blog in this weeks post...

Thanks for sharing at Poetry Picnic WK 7… I look forward to reading more from you in our next week theme “Friends, relationships and everyone around”…

This poem leaves me with a lump in my throat. Such real emotion here! I can feel it as if I were in the room.

This is beautifully written
Susie. I like the sense of urgency throughout the poem, especially in the second last stanza
"I hear the clock ticking it is time.
The sun has grown dimmer.
Lonely has already arrived."

Oh, I have felt this agony. You've depicted it painfully well.

This poem is moving and well done. It flows very easily down the page and draws me into it.
Love lost - desertion, death, treachery. It matters not. It is lost.

Namaste..........cj

Goodbyes are the hardest thing to say and it is so sad when you are the one leaving and do not know when you will be back or on the other hand to stand there and watch the person walk out the door or get on a plane and fly away that is really hard to do and to say goodbye in the end
