My heart will never
stare with vacant eyes
rocking in a chair
draped in winter memories.
Love will have it
dancing in the street,
eyes twinkling,
dressed in a summer smile.
So well done, but so sad. When my father's dementia got bad, my mother's heart broke, and I often think that's what killed her, not the cancer, not the heart attack, not the pneumonia. If dad had been "with it" (and therefore with her) she'd have fought those and won. K
I know couples who dance in the streets ... We used to be part of a swing dance group and couples married for 50 years were out dancing us! And yes, some were dancing in their seats... but they weren't living winter memories. :)

Your heart is young and sprightly!
Nice thoughts.
Those vacant eyes scare me the most! Who wants that? This is lovely!
why does the prospect of "winter memories" lie so heavy in her lap? love that phrase.
Amen to that!
A feeling as passionate as love should be 'out there'.
Vacant eyes? Rocking chair? What is Caddoc doing on your blog? This sounds just like him...
Yes! Yes! Yes!
This poem made me smile! Awesome! Simply awesome :)
Dancing is the key I think physically, metally or symbolically, great way to stay young and interested in the world around you. Nice work.
Beautiful love poem!
